You do this thing when you’re young and gay, and everyone in your life hates gay people… you did this weird thing - and I don’t know if gay kids do this today - where you go, “I’m gonna be a different kind of gay person. I’m not gonna be that gay person that my family and friends complain about all the time, you know, the swishy weirdo gay people. I’ll be one of those normal gay people. They’ll like me when I’m gay.”
