Do you remember Cynthia Riggs, the 81-year-old mystery writer who found herself entangled in a romantic mystery of her own? Well, we have an update for you…

Cynthia and Howie have gotten married! They got hitched a few weeks ago in a small commitment ceremony in front of friends in family.

Cynthia writes:

We intended to plant a beech tree in celebration, and thought we would dig a little hole and stick in a foot-high sprout.  But the head of the Polly Hill Arboretum… got involved.  He came with a truck, his big strong son, and a 15-foot tall beech, and planted it properly in a large excavation with lots of compost.  The beech tree is ready for birds to nest in.  Everyone on the Island seems to be involved in this romance of ours.

They’ll be having a traditional church wedding in May, with a party “for the entire world” on Martha’s Vineyard this summer. Congratulations, Cynthia and Howie, and best of luck!
